Ernest Osei aka
‘Ernest Look’
I was born
in Ashanti Region of Ghana - West Africa, where my younger brother and I lived
with our parents.
The Past
To start my
Story, I wish to state that to some people, I always looked strange. Being a
conspicuous person, life in school was not easy at all. But these challenges
could not break my confidence.
Throwbacks
After high
school, I had plans to enter university but then I lost my Father. It was a
hard time and I had to deal with emotional stress. With his death a whole lot
of issues came along. I have perceived that, in the family system of some
African countries such as Ghana, it can happen that some relatives of the
deceased husband may come around to take all that he and his wife have worked
for. In this case, my mother was strong enough and did not allow that, but the
funeral was taken out of our hands. Till now we even don’t know where he was
buried.
The Call
It was in
school where I didn’t like the way some girls or ladies walked. I started to
teach my female classmates how to do the “lady like” walking.
At the age
of fourteen, my walking was well known in school. Because I was a hard student
to deal with, I escaped the past insults and discriminations.
The Beginning
After the
High school I got myself into a private media school and later I worked as a
host for a Radio station. Then I had a call for modeling casting. When I got
there, many nice ladies and men surrounded me. I looked at myself for a moment
and doubts came to my mind. I said to myself…. Ernest don’t let them bring you
down, just do your best. Days later I got the affirmation. I was chosen as one
of the top ten (4 males and 6 females). We traveled to Kumasi for another
casting show. That changed my life.
Beside my
full time media work I then started modeling. I became the head trainer of a
modeling agency. I modeled, trained other models and also worked in the office.
Life was very busy at that time and I became the only male model in Ghana that
wore high heels to train and walk the runway in female cloths. A phenomenon in Africa. But after three years working from
Monday to Sunday I could not take the stress, so I quit after the big Ghana
Fashion Weekend in 2009. In spite of everything I achieved a good reputation in
Ghanas fashion industry.
The Decision
In 2010, I
decided to moved out as I was not challenged enough and some people in my
country did not understand my work and the art. I moved out to where I will be
more challenged to release my full potential. That is why I came to Germany.
Germany is
a great country and I love it here. The language is abit difficult but I am
still learning it. I chose the capital city Berlin because it is a fashion
metropolis. When I got here, the first step I took was to connect with great
fashion photographers and event organizers. I focused on networking!
The Profession
It has not
been an easy ride and being in a whole new country where you are not known. But
I never gave up, for now I am working as Catwalk trainer for Models that need
to know how to walk. I have done several Shows as Catwalk trainer like the
“Face of Africa Germany” held in Hamburg and I was the Co-trainer for “Lavera
Showfloor” in the Berlin summer fashion week. Beside that I had a lot of
shootings as model. My philosophy is to work at my best all the time. For me
the sky is not even the limit.
The Future
My journey
doesn’t ends where I am right now as am working on some projects and as we go
on this journey you will get to know all.. yes you reading…
